Yo Yo, Man

I did it!  I lost another 10 pounds!  I was so very happy.

Then it happened;  I got cocky.  This loosing weight is becoming a matter of fact.  Not easy but a given.  I started ignoring my own rules about when and what to eat.  In a simultaneous move of self deception i cut way back on the exercise too.  Have i mention how much i hate running?

Bang!  Those 10 pounds come back.  Of course i night of pounding back cold beers in a little tour around the world didn't help.  Then i start paying attention to the food again and I loose those 10 pounds again and weigh myself the day before the party, coming in at the desired 230 (for those who don't know i am trying to work my way down from the brutal 250 lbs i was mortified to find myself at down to a more reasonable 200 lbs).  Morning after the party I'm back to 240.  Crap.

This means that since i started I have lost a total of 30 lbs, unfortunately I've also gained 20 lbs, leaving me at a 10 lb total loss.  Frustrating but clearly i know what to do from here on out to take it off and keep it off.  Get back to reasonable portions.  Cut down to one starch intake a day, this week will see a lot of soups and vegetables and meats with less grains.  And yes, yesterday i was back on that mind numbing hamster wheel called the treadmill and i did my crunches.

Unfortunately because i haven't done a post in about three weeks we have a lot of food left to go through.  I do take a picture of everything i eat in a given day, occasionally i forget and try to make a note of what went where.  I drink a lot of water through the day and never take pictures of my beverages but besides a tea in the morning I tend to drink water through the day.  Once in a while i have a glass of milk or juice, 2-4 times a week.  There was a time when i drank several litres of juice and milk a week but that ended a while ago.  Mostly because of having kids I'd have to say actually.

Anyways, like I said this will be a monster post, picture wise, so I better get moving on it.

April 3 continued from last post

snack

supper, veg wrap & cranberry juice

April 4

breakfast

snack soup

dinner spread for family, tuna in the bowel, some cold meats, a little cheese and lots of veg, also some humus to spread

 April 5

breakfast

lunch, burger

home made split pea soup with some home made bread.
We used the left over ham bone from Easter...mmm

 April 6

I had 2 eggs for breakfast, sorry no pic :(

late lunch, early supper, pasta, home made sauce of course

April 7

I felt full all morning and only had a banana around lunch time

here is an 8lb pork roast that i cut in half for cooking time, the paste is butter, spinach, garlic and almonds with some oil ground into a paste.  It was pretty good but the thermometer alarm didn't go off so it was a little over cooked but still pretty good.

the paste was stuffed in the middle and the roast retied to keep everything moist

April 8

breakfast, blackberries on granola

lunch, spinach, cabbage, black eyed peas probably some garlic on a bed of rice for lunch

had too much on the plate, this goes back for later.

supper, rice, some sauce from the pasta and some pork.

April 9

breakfast, avocado, tomato on a toast

there's that left over from yesterday for dinner today

supper was the super split pea soup, it doesn't look great in pictures but it really is quite tasty, also here it is still cold (most foods look better cold in pics but not when they're as thick as this)

April 10, there was a banana in the morning

lunch, a little rice with small chunks of pork

for supper we had some potato wedges from fresh potatoes

some chicken, keep the carcass for soup!

steamed beans

and since Mitch is over, he made some gravy with the chicken drippings

so there's the plate for dinner, and i had a second helping of beans.

April 11

cereal, almost forgot to take the pic so it is half gone

lunch, pasta with the homemade sauce again.

cereal for supper!

April 12

two soft boiled for breakfast

lunch

tilapia

in an egg wash

caramelized onions, egg washed fish, green onion garlic butter paste

Way too much for supper
I had this and went out to do the worlds beer tour, shockingly the 10 pounds that i had lost over the previous 2 weeks came back.

April 13 had a banana for breakfast

no band jam today, had the left over of yesterdays dinner

fresh bread made for the week!  mmm

April 14

brunch with dad at dad's house

cake from mom and dad

here's my piece

supper on sunday night

April 15

breakfast

snack, toast and avocado

poutine that was shared with my wife for lunch.
My favourite poutine place opened a few weeks ago for the season and i have avoided it like the plague but finally we gave in...
I used to eat this alone and god forbid you would try and take a bite, you might not get your arm back but this we shared pretty equally.
For those who don't know, good poutine is made of fresh cut fries, fresh cheese curds and covered in a real gravy; some say it should be beef, some say chicken and others say it should be St. Hubert's

supper, steak, beans and yam

what should have been left over from dinner but turned into the midnight snack

April 16, also known as my birthday, no break fast had a banana for lunch

My wife made the pasta from scratch for her first ever attempt at making ravioli, it was very, very good
unfortunately the picture does not make it look as good as it was or even as good as it looked at that moment

there were some shrimp and green beans and asparagus, the far plate is fresh parmigiana

it was all very good.

April 17

breakfast

snack

lunch

a little left over birthday cake with lunch

supper, big avocado salad

April 18, had a toast and banana through the day

for diner

the plate, chicken, rice and salad, I had a second helping of salad too

April 19, i had granola cereal for breakfast and a banana snack and a grilled cheese dinner with way to much Tabasco sauce

Emily made breakfast muffins for the coming week.  full of apple, oatmeal and other god things.
Weighed myself and I was back down to 230, yay!

April 20

to help soak up some of the Tabasco I had a bigger breakfast, three eggs and three bacon instead of the normal 2 of each, I know i will need it for what is coming, it is the weekend and today we are having people over for the birthday party, we don't usually do birthday parties at this age but this year seems to be different.

a ridiculously decadent cake, it is actually two cake layers with a cheesecake in the middle, even the icing  is thick and decadently sweet, the orange slices make it healthy right?

along with cake are my favourite, peanut butter cookies and the extremely rare chips in the bowls

also out for snacks this veg platter, not in the picture because it was hidden at the time was a great mango salsa that Emily made to dip the tortilla chips into

so good i almost forgot to take the picture, i was half way done but this goat soup was so good, everyone had their fill and most people had never had goat before.

sorry it's upside down but here is the wonderful cake

the devilled eggs that Mitch made

I had two of these bad boys, they go down so nice

April 21

weighed my self this morning, back to 240 lbs, boo!
Slow morning, i had the left over cucumbers for breakfast, if you're wondering it is a yogurt dip

soup for lunch, still so good

did I mention that I was getting cocky about the watching what i eat I had three slices, mind you i used to eat one whole one to myself, these are mediums and i used to eat a large so there is still an improvement

April 22

breakfast

lunch, more goat

snack, cookie show down between mom and wife...winner is...me, the eater

dinner, 3 legs bbq'd slow with rice and salad

late night snack muffin

April 23

this was breakfast, no tea or anything else so of course I'm still pretty hungry but it is lunch time wait until next blog to find out what that is.

By the way i believe on my last entry i said i would increase my blog frequency because the longer i waited the more work it was rather than being fun and easy.  hopefully i will have learned my lesson now, three weeks is way too long.
